What Many Teenagers Don't Know About DUI's
Being a teenager is already very difficult and adding the many things about a DUI makes it that much harder. If you are a teenager that thinks it is cool to drink then you need to stop because it is not cool and very harmful to your body. Something that you have to realize is that teens are not allowed to drink and there are many reasons why that is.
The very first thing that I would like to make sure you are aware of is that a DUI is very serious, not only for teens but for adults too. The next thing that I want you to understand is there is a lot about DUI’s that you probably have no idea about and that is why I want to tell you them.
One of the first thing that I would like to tell you is that as a teenager you will have to deal with both state officials and local authorities and this should really worry you. The reason why I wanted to make sure you know this is because you have to go through the D.O.L. since they are the only ones that can do anything with your license. Odds are that as a teenager with a DUI you will not be able to keep your license and most likely you will be forced to go through some drug and alcohol class before even having a reconsideration hearing about your license. Just know that this is going to be a lot of work in order to get your license back and have your life back the way it once was.
One other thing that a lot of teens don’t realize is that you will have more fines and legal fees than you could even imagine and most of the time this is more than an adult would pay for the same thing. One of the reasons why teens get more fines than adults is because judges don’t want to give them jail time because of them being in school and they want to make sure that they feel the burn of what they just did. One other punishment that you will most likely be handed is many hours of community service and that is if you are lucky. Just know that everything you will get, you most likely deserve after what you just did.
The final thing that you need to understand is that a DUI is not only going to change your life in the short term, it will affect you forever and it will really hurt you when it comes time to look for a career. When it comes to DUI’s there is nothing good about them and you will be learning that very soon.
